Souvenirs travel all over the world. Most of them end on our shelves or stuck to the fridges of our friends and relatives. But why not give them a different destination?
Wouldn't it be great if you could make a cultural exchange with strangers - probably someone you'll never even meet. But more importantly, wouldn't it be amazingly funny, if you could see someone's face when they find a souvenir from Madrid in a shop in Helsinki? Or a postcard of the Eiffel Tower - in a postcard stand by the Akropolis?
And that is exactly the point of Wandering Souvenir: buy a souvenir - leave it somewhere else. A fun and creative way of making a different form of human contact across the world, (and hopefully at the same time causing some havoc in the souvenir stores!)
Whenever possible, do take a picture of the item that you left, in it's new store, and email it to wandering.souvenir@gmail.com, so that we can upload it to the blog.
